Silent Yoga & Meditation retreat led by Monique Haan

Join Monique for a 3-day (2 night) silent yoga and meditation retreat at Zazen’s beautiful, secluded retreat center in Mendocino. This retreat will include 3 sessions per day, including: yin yoga, slow mindful flow, meditation, dharma talk, as well as free time each afternoon for self reflection. Three nourishing, organic meals will be provided daily. For an extended retreat, just a few miles away are the healing waters of Orr Hot Springs and the beautiful Montgomery State Redwood Forest.
Retreating in silence is a profound opportunity to deepen self-awareness and embodied presence. We can become easily disconnected from our true nature, as our busy lives keep us moving at a frantic pace. When we reside in this ‘detached’ place, we forget our connection to the larger source, often reacting from a place of fear or comparison.
This time together in deep practice will support us in re-connecting to ourselves, and our environment on a deeper level than our everyday lives allow. Through our daily practices, we will hold the intention of listening to a place of stillness and wisdom that inherently lies within us.
All levels of yoga practice are welcome. Some meditation experience preferred, but not required. To allow time for connection, we will enter silence together after the evening session on Friday, until after the morning session on Sunday.
To enter the unspeakable requires a quiet courage that points to what is often out of reach, though it is never far from us. By entering that silence, the unspeakable shows itself as the thread of light that holds the web of life together. -Mark Nepo

Monique's classes are held with a therapeutic intention. Her work as a Somatic (body-oriented) therapist naturally informs the language and sequencing of her classes. She believes that yoga is an opportunity to listen deeply to the natural intelligence of our bodies, and learn to inhabit ourselves in new ways. Through this more integrated place, we discover authenticity in being and expression. Monique completed her 500 hour teacher training at Yoga Tree in San Francisco, and mentored privately for several years with Dina Amsterdam (founder of InnerYoga). Monique also has a private psychotherapy practice at Zazen, where she is enjoying deepening the Somatic work with her clients.
