Learn simple, practical tools to deepen presence in the body and cultivate safety in connections. This workshop will be a mixture of guided meditations and group connection practices to cultivate a deeper feeling of ease and freedom together.

Coming Soon! Zazen Community Retreat Space

We're grateful to announce that Zazen has acquired a private community retreat space, located just two hours north  of San Francisco in beautiful Mendocino County. 

 The property will support our community in so many ways. Primarily it will serve as a low cost retreat space for personal or group retreats. There are many retreat spaces across California, but few that offer affordable options. As the space develops we hope to be able to offer regular work-trade options for extended low fee retreats. 

We expect to offer guided retreats throughout the year, with skillful teachers from a diversity of traditions. Stay tuned for updates on programing. 

 We also hope the space will function as a regular place of refuge and renewal for Zazen members and staff. Twice per week we will offer carpool options from our San Francisco studio to the land for guests interested in a hassle free retreat from the city. 

You're invited to support our retreat space by donating to our gofundme campaign (below). Your donation will allow us to build a new meditation and yoga hall, expanding our low cost housing options for additional guests. Your donation of any size will be treated as a pre-payment for your future visit.

Update on retreat construction!

The conversion of the garage into a retreat facility is progressing nicely! The first stage involved removing the garage door and framing individual rooms. The rooms are nearly finished, with furnishings and fresh paint, just awaiting area rugs to add some color and warmth. 

The next stage will involve putting down a wood floor in the upstairs yoga and meditation space. Anyone interested in helping with the flooring is welcome to join us any weekend this month.

Upcoming Work Practice Retreat Opportunities

Join us for our upcoming work-practice retreats!  Participants help with work projects that directly help create the retreat facility.   In exchange for 4 hours per day of work, participants receive free room and board.  Carpool options are available. Afternoons and evenings are left free to explore the nearby redwood forest, Orr Hot Springs, or local hiking.
